Netrabhan Pov:
I reached home and went directly to my room.
I kept my bag on the table and freshened up quickly.
After some time, I went downstairs.
As usual, I walked toward the kitchen area.
My mother was there, cooking something.
The familiar smell of food filled the kitchen.
Like always, she was already making something for me.
I walked closer and asked in my broken Rajasthani,
“Mummy, ke banaro ho?”
(Mummy, what are you making?)
She immediately looked at me and shook her head with a small smile.
“Tere liye kuch khane ko bana rahi hoon… aur tujhe jab achhe se hamari bhasha bolni nahi aati to bolta kyon hai?”
(I’m making something for you to eat… and when you don’t even know how to speak our language properly, why do you try?)
I laughed lightly and replied,
“Mummy, jab main bolunga hi nahi to seekhunga kaise?”
(Mom, if I don’t speak it, how will I learn?)
She smiled a little and said,
“Achha theek hai, chal tu baith. Main plate mein lekar aati hoon.”
(Okay fine. Go sit, I’ll bring it in a plate.)
I sat at the dining table while she brought the food.
After eating quietly, I thanked her and went back to my room.
I sat down at my study table like every evening.
Books opened.
Notebook ready.
Pen in hand.
Everything was normal.
Except my mind.
I tried understand the chapter.
Then the second.
But somehow the words didn’t stay in my head.
Instead—
A different set of memories kept replaying.
Her first day in the classroom.
Standing near the door with the principal.
Looking around the class like everything was new and unfamiliar.
Then that moment—
When our eyes met for the first time.
The way she suddenly froze.
As if she wasn’t expecting to see me either.
I shook my head lightly and tried focusing on the book again.
But another memory came.
Her voice in the empty classroom.
“Woh… woh… mujhe na aapki notes chahiye thi…”
And then the way she forgot which subject she came for.
Konsi notes chahiye thi…
A small smile escaped my lips without permission.
I quickly stopped myself.
What are you doing?
This is ridiculous.
I leaned back in my chair and stared at the ceiling for a moment.
Then another thought appeared.
The garden.
Eshaan telling me what she said.
“woh akele lunch karenge kya? Aap log toh unke dost ho aaplog ko bhi Jana chahiye tha na?”
Why did she care?
We barely know each other.
Yet she sounded genuinely concerned.
I exhaled slowly.
“Kashvi…”
I said her name quietly without realizing.
Then I immediately straightened up again.
No.
This is not good.
I came here to study.
I picked up my pen again and forced myself to look at the page.
But the problem wasn’t the book.
The problem was that every time I tried to focus—
My mind went back to the same person.
Her curious eyes.
Her nervous voice.
Her small laugh when she tries to hide it.
I closed the notebook slowly.
For the first time in a long time—
Studying felt difficult.
And the reason was simple.
A girl named Kashvi.
Someone I met only yesterday.
Yet somehow—
She had already become the loudest thought in my quiet mind.
And that scared me a little.
Because I know myself.
Once something enters my mind like this
Ignoring it becomes almost impossible.
Author Pov:
Evening had settled in.
The sky outside was slowly turning orange as the sun began to set. Inside the house, the smell of fresh food filled the kitchen.
Kashvi was standing beside her mother, helping her with the cooking. Unlike many girls her age, she actually knew quite a lot about cooking and kitchen work. She chopped vegetables, stirred the curry, and arranged the plates while talking to her mother.
After finishing everything, she washed her hands and went to her room.
She had to complete her notes and study.
She sat on her bed, opened her bag, and took out the notebook—the same one she had borrowed from him in the classroom.
As soon as she opened it, her eyes stopped on the first page.
For a moment, she just stared.
His handwriting.
Neat.
Perfect.
Every word looked so clean and organized that it almost felt printed.
A small smile appeared on her face.
“Hayee… kitni sundar handwriting hai…” she murmured softly.
Then she added quietly, almost without realizing,
“Bilkul unke jaise sundar hai…”
Just then the door suddenly opened.
Saanvi walked in.
“Kashvi! Kya kar rahi hai tu?”
Kashvi quickly looked up.
Then Saanvi noticed the notebook in her hand.
“Ohh! Kya hardam book pakad ke baithi rehti hai tu—”
Before she could finish, Kashvi interrupted dramatically,
“O hello! Zyada mat hi bol. Main abhi books ko pakad ke baithi hu… aur tu raat mein sirf itna hi farq hai.”
Saanvi rolled her eyes.
“Achha theek hai, theek hai. Teri jitni notes complete ho gayi hai na… woh mujhe de.”
Kashvi flipped through the pages and said,
“Haan, poori ho gayi hai… bas yeh maths ko chhod kar.”
Saanvi suddenly paused.
“Ohh ek minute…”
She narrowed her eyes suspiciously.
“Achhaaa… toh tu toppers se notes mangne gayi thi?”
She quickly sat beside Kashvi.
“Chal chal bata bata! Kaise baat ki?”
Kashvi immediately looked away.
“Chhod na… tu sunegi toh mujhe hi pagal samjhegi.”
Saanvi grinned.
“Nahi! Tu bol.”
Kashvi sighed and said,
“Kuch nahi… main puchne toh gayi thi…”
“Lekin konsi subjects ki notes chahiye thi… woh bhool gayi.”
For a second there was silence.
Then Saanvi burst out laughing.
“Tune sach me aisa kiya hai?!”
Kashvi covered her face in embarrassment while Saanvi kept laughing uncontrollably.
Saanvi kept laughing for a few seconds before finally calming down a little.
Still smiling mischievously, she looked at Kashvi and said,
“Bas notes puchne gayi thi aur yeh haal ho gaya tera… pata nahi aage jaake kaise baat karegi tu.”
Kashvi immediately hit her lightly with the notebook.
“Saanvi! Chup kar na.”
But Saanvi wasn’t ready to stop teasing.
“Sach bol rahi hoon main! Notes puchne gyi toh subject bhool gayi… imagine jab properly baat karegi tab kya hoga.”
Kashvi tried to look serious but couldn’t hide the embarrassment on her face.
“Bas kar ab,” she said, slightly annoyed but also shy.
Saanvi leaned closer and said dramatically,
“Waise topper hai woh… thoda toh nervous hona banta hai.”
Kashvi quickly replied,
“Topper hai toh kya hua? Main koi usse darr thodi rahi thi.”
Saanvi raised an eyebrow.
“Achha? Phir konsi subject ki notes chahiye thi woh kaise bhool gayi?”
For a moment Kashvi had no answer.
She looked down at the notebook again.
Her fingers slowly traced the neat handwriting on the page.
Saanvi noticed it and smirked.
“Oho… handwriting bhi dekh rahi hai?”
Kashvi quickly closed the notebook.
“Pagal hai kya tu?”
Saanvi laughed again and stood up.
“Theek hai theek hai, main ja rahi hoon. Tu likhle le.”
Before leaving the room, she turned back and said one last thing,
“Waise Kashvi…topper ko mai kya bulau?.”
Matlab.?
Saanvi said "jiju ya fir topper wale jiju?"
Kashvi threw a pillow toward her.
“Saanviii!”
Saanvi ran out of the room laughing.
Now the room was quiet again.
Kashvi slowly opened the notebook once more.
Her eyes again fell on the neat lines of handwriting.
For a moment, she just looked at it silently.
Then she whispered softly to herself,
“Pagal ladki… subject ka naam bhi yaad nahi raha…”
But even while saying that—
A small smile appeared on her face again.
The next morning at school…
Kashvi and Saanvi were walking quickly through the corridor.
Saanvi looked at the clock and said in an annoyed tone,
“Dekh! Teri wajah se late ho gaya.”
Kashvi rolled her eyes while walking faster.
“Arey ho gaya na… chal ab. Nahi toh aur late ho jayenge.”
As they reached near the classroom door, they suddenly stopped.
Outside the classroom stood Ishvik, Eshaan, and Netrabhan.
And the three of them were arguing.
“Tu jaa pehle.”
“Nahi tu jaa.”
“Arey maine kal bhi entry li thi, tu jaa aaj!”
Kashvi and Saanvi looked at them for a second and then at each other.
At the exact same moment both whispered,
“Matlab hum log puri tarah se late ho gaye…”
Hearing their voices, Ishvik, Eshaan, and Netrabhan turned their heads toward them.
Ishvik smirked and said dramatically,
“Ohh… ab toh aur do log add ho gaye humari group mein.”
Immediately—
Kashvi, Saanvi, Eshaan, and Netrabhan all said at the same time,
“Shut up!”
For a moment everyone froze.
They all looked at each other’s faces in surprise.
Then Ishvik, Eshaan, and Netrabhan continued their argument again.
“Tu jaa pehle.”
“Nahi tu jaa.”
“Bhai tu jaa!”
Kashvi and Saanvi just stood there watching this drama.
After a few seconds, Kashvi got frustrated.
Suddenly she raised her voice.
“Chup raho aap log!”
All three boys immediately stopped and looked at her.
Kashvi crossed her arms and said firmly,
“Main andar jaa rahi hoon pehle. Aap log apna yeh ‘tu jaa pehle, tu jaa pehle’ band karo.”
Ishvik, Eshaan, and Netrabhan just stared at her.
Netrabhan leaned slightly toward Ishvik and Eshaan and whispered quietly,
“Yeh hume daant kyun rahi hai?”
Saanvi heard that and couldn’t stop herself from giggling.
Then she said,
“Woh kya hai na… usse gussa jaldi aa jata hai.”
All three boys reacted together.
“Ohhh…”
Kashvi wasn’t paying attention to them anymore.
She turned back and said,
“Aap sabko yahin rehna hai kya? Aur tujhe bhi, Saanvi?”
All four of them quickly shook their heads in no.
Kashvi nodded.
“Chalo fir.”
She pushed the classroom door slightly and stepped inside.
“May we come in, ma’am?”
The whole class turned to look at the door.
Kashvi, Saanvi, Ishvik, Eshaan, and Netrabhan were standing there together.
The teacher looked at them for a moment and then sighed.
“Ohh… ab aur do log add ho gaye hain inki group mein.”
Kashvi and Saanvi immediately said,
“Sorry, ma’am.”
Then Ishvik, Eshaan, and Netrabhan also said together,
“Sorry, ma’am.”
The teacher shook her head.
“Ab main kya hi bolun… andar aao.”
All five of them quickly entered the classroom and went to their seats.
But the moment they sat down—
Ishvik slowly leaned toward the others and whispered,
“Group officially ban gaya lagta hai…”
And Eshaan quietly laughed.
While Netrabhan just looked ahead silently—
Though for a brief moment…
His eyes shifted toward Kashvi.
Kashvi and Saanvi had just settled in their seats.
The class had already started, and everyone was pretending to focus on the lecture.
From the bench behind them, Aarohi leaned forward slightly and whispered slowly,
“Wah… parampara chalu kar di hai tum dono ne.”
Kashvi and Saanvi looked at each other, confused.
Both turned back toward her and whispered,
“Huhh? Matlab?”
Aarohi tried to control her smile and said,
“Arey… apni purani school ki parampara.”
She paused for a second and then added quietly,
“Late aane ki.”
For a moment there was silence.
Then suddenly—
Kashvi, Saanvi, and Aarohi all burst into laughter.
They quickly covered their mouths to stop the sound.
The teacher glanced in their direction suspiciously, and they immediately pretended to look at their notebooks seriously.
But even then—
Their shoulders were still shaking from suppressed laughter.
__
Just like that, the classes continued.
One period after another.
Some students were listening carefully, some were half asleep, and some were just waiting for the bell to ring.
Finally—
The lunch bell rang.
The whole class instantly became lively.
Students started standing up, opening their lunch boxes, and walking outside the classroom.
Kashvi, Saanvi, and Aarohi packed their notebooks and got up from their seats.
Without saying much, the three of them quietly left the classroom and went outside.
From the other side of the room, Ishvik, Eshaan, and Netrabhan noticed them leaving.
All three looked toward the door.
And at the exact same time they said,
“Yeh sab kidhar chali gayi ab?”
Then again—
At the exact same time, they said,
“Chhodo… hume kya.”
Ishvik immediately opened his lunch box.
“Pehle lunch pe focus karte hain.”
Eshaan nodded.
“Bilkul.”
Netrabhan also opened his lunch box, though his eyes briefly moved toward the classroom door where the three girls had just left.
For a second he wondered where they had gone.
But then he shook the thought away and started eating with the others.
Meanwhile—
Outside the classroom, Kashvi, Saanvi, and Aarohi were walking through the corridor, talking and laughing about random things.
Lunch break had just begun—
First, Kashvi, Saanvi, and Aarohi went to the garden and sat under a big tree.
They opened their lunch boxes and finished their lunch while talking and laughing.
After finishing, Aarohi suddenly looked at them with a mischievous smile.
“Tum dono aage ke classes attend karne wale ho?
Saanvi frowned.
“Kyu?”
Aarohi leaned back casually and said,
“Class bunk kare?”
Kashvi immediately reacted.
“Agar kisi ko pata chal gaya toh? Mam ya sir ne dekh liya toh?”
Aarohi waved her hand confidently.
“Arey woh sab mujhe chhod do.”
Saanvi looked at Kashvi.
Kashvi hesitated for a second… then sighed.
“Theek hai.”
And just like that—
The decision was made.
Meanwhile, in the classroom, the lunch period had already ended.
Classes had started again.
Eshaan slowly leaned toward the others and whispered,
“Classes start ho gayi hai… lekin yeh teeno abhi tak aayi hi nahi.”
Netrabhan quietly nodded.
Ishvik smirked.
“Mujhe toh lag raha hai class bunk ki hai.”
Eshaan agreed.
“Mujhe bhi yehi lag raha hai.”
Then Ishvik whispered to him,
“Hum bhi kare next period bunk?”
Eshaan grinned.
“Haan, karte hai.”
Then he added quietly,
“Bas isse pata na chale.”
Both of them glanced at Netrabhan.
Because Netrabhan didn’t like bunking classes.
Soon the period ended.
Ishvik and Eshaan stood up.
“Hum abhi aate hain… washroom se.”
Netrabhan nodded slightly.
But a few minutes later, the teacher came and started teaching.
Ishvik and Eshaan still hadn’t returned.
Netrabhan understood immediately.
They had bunked the class.
He sighed quietly.
Next period, he decided he would go and bring them back.
And somewhere in his mind—
He also thought about Kashvi.
She hadn’t returned either.
Meanwhile…
Ishvik and Eshaan were wandering around the school when they finally spotted Kashvi, Saanvi, and Aarohi near the terrace area.
Soon the five of them decided to sit together and enjoy the break.
They bought snacks from the canteen and went toward the garden.
Now all five of them were sitting on the grass, eating, laughing, and talking happily.
Time passed quickly.
Back in the classroom, the last period ended.
Netrabhan packed his bag and left the class first.
He went to the washroom area.
No one.
Then the corridors.
Still no sign of them.
Then the terrace.
Empty.
Then the canteen.
Nothing.
Finally, he walked toward the garden area.
As he got closer, he heard voices.
Talking.
And laughter.
He followed the sound.
And there—
He saw them.
Kashvi, Saanvi, Eshaan, Ishvik, and Aarohi were sitting on the grass in a circle, eating snacks and talking happily.
None of them noticed him standing there.
Except one person.
Kashvi.
Her eyes suddenly moved toward that direction.
And she froze.
Because Netrabhan was standing there.
And he was looking only at her.
He slowly raised his eyebrows as if asking a silent question.
Seriously?
Kashvi immediately shook her head in no, shocked.
Seeing her reaction, Ishvik asked,
“Kya hua? Aise shock mein kyun ho jaise koi bhoot dekh liya ho?”
Kashvi pointed behind him.
“Udhar dekho…”
Ishvik turned.
And instantly froze.
Saanvi looked confused.
“Kya hua? Tum dono aise shock mein kyun ho?”
Then she and the others also turned their heads in that direction.
And the moment they saw him—
All of them went into shock.
They immediately stood up quickly.
Everyone quickly stood up after seeing Netrabhan.
For a few seconds, no one said anything.
Then Netrabhan looked straight at Ishvik and Eshaan and said calmly,
“Ishvik… Eshaan… yeh hai tum dono ka washroom?”
Listening to this, Kashvi, Saanvi, and Aarohi couldn’t control themselves.
They giggled softly.
Ishvik scratched his head awkwardly while Eshaan looked away.
Then Netrabhan looked at all of them and said,
“Wahh… yeh sab karte ho tum log? Classes attend karne ki jagah classes bunk karte ho.”
Kashvi quietly muttered under her breath,
“Yeh bol toh aise rahe hain jaise class bunk karna koi crime hai…”
Netrabhan immediately turned toward her.
“Kya boli aap? Zara zor se boliye.”
Kashvi instantly shook her head.
“Nahi… kuch nahi.”
Netrabhan narrowed his eyes slightly but didn’t say anything.
Then he asked,
“Toh aage ka kya plan hai? Last period hai… attend karna hai ya yahin rehna hai?”
At the exact same moment—
Ishvik and Kashvi said,
“Yahin rehte hain.”
“Last period hai, kya hi attend karna ab.”
Netrabhan glared at both of them.
“Chalo. Chup chaap se class mein.”
No one argued after that.
All of them quietly started walking toward the classroom together.
A few minutes later, they reached the class and sat down.
Soon the las
t period ended.
The final bell rang.
Students began packing their bags and leaving the classroom.
Another school day had come to an end—
But somehow, today felt more chaotic…
and strangely fun for all of them.
