Happy reading šŸ“–

Author Pov:

Everything was quiet now.

The night had settled.

Kashvi was lying on her bed, staring at the ceiling.

Her mind was replaying the whole day again.

From the moment she got late in the morning…

To the scene in the corridor.

Suddenly she sat up a little and covered her face with her hands.

ā€œYeh kya kiya maineā€¦ā€ she murmured to herself.

ā€œMain un logon par gussa kar baithi?ā€

She remembered how she suddenly shouted at Ishvik, Eshaan, and Netrabhan outside the classroom.

ā€œYeh itna gussa kyu hai mere paasā€¦ā€ she said quietly.

Then another memory appeared in her mind.

Netrabhan raising his eyebrow at her in the garden.

And asking her—

ā€œKya boli aap? Zara zor se boliye.ā€

Kashvi immediately shook her head as if trying to push the memory away.

ā€œPagal ladkiā€¦ā€ she whispered to herself.

After a moment she got up from the bed and walked toward her study table.

She opened the drawer and took out her diary.

The same diary where she wrote everything she couldn’t say out loud.

She opened a new page and picked up her pen.

Then she started writing.

About yesterday.

How she went to ask him for notes.

How nervous she was standing in front of him.

How she forgot the subject she actually needed.

She even wrote about his neat handwriting.

Then she turned the page and started writing about today.

Getting late.

Seeing them arguing in the corridor.

Shouting at them without even realizing.

And then—

The garden incident.

She paused for a moment.

Her pen stopped moving.

A small smile appeared on her face as she remembered something.

The way he was standing there quietly.

Looking only at her.

She quickly shook her head and continued writing.

After finishing the page, she closed the diary slowly.

ā€œKashvi… tu bhi naā€¦ā€ she said softly.

Then she placed the diary back in the drawer and lay down on her bed again.

But even after closing her eyes—

Somehow the same face kept appearing in her thoughts.

And unknowingly—

Her day had ended the same way it started.

Thinking about him.

^_________^

At the same time, in Saanvi’s house—

Saanvi was sitting at her study table.

Her books were open in front of her as she tried to complete her notes.

But something was wrong.

Her pen was moving slowly on the page, yet her concentration was somewhere else.

Her mind wasn’t on the notes.

Instead—

She kept thinking about someone.

Eshaan.

She paused writing and stared at the notebook for a moment.

ā€œYeh kya ho raha hai mujheā€¦ā€ she whispered softly.

She placed the pen down and leaned back in her chair.

ā€œMain aise kyun behave kar rahi hoon?ā€

Every time she remembered him

standing near her in the classroom…

Or talking during lunch…

Her heart started beating faster.

She placed her hand on her chest.

ā€œHar baar jab woh paas hota hai… dil itna tez kyun dhadakne lagta haiā€¦ā€

She sighed softly.

ā€œI don’t understand.ā€

For a moment she thought about telling someone.

Then she whispered,

ā€œMaine toh yeh baat Kashvi ko bhi nahi batayi haiā€¦ā€

She looked at the ceiling.

ā€œKya karu? Bolun… ya na bolun aur bolun toh bolun kaise, mai khud sure nhi hu, kya karu?ā€

A few seconds passed.

Then suddenly she sat up straight.

ā€œYeh kya kar rahi hoon main?ā€ she muttered.

ā€œMain khud se kyun baat kar rahi hoon?ā€

She said softly and shook her head.

ā€œPagal ho gayi ho kya Saanviā€¦ā€

After that she closed her notebook and switched off the table lamp.

Lying down on her bed, she pulled the blanket over herself.

But even while closing her eyes—

One thought stayed in her mind.

And before she could understand those feelings properly—

Sleep slowly took over.

Just like that—

Her night ended with unanswered questions in her heart.

( ╹▽╹ )

The next day at school—

Once again, Kashvi and Saanvi were running late.

But this time it wasn’t Kashvi’s fault.

It was Saanvi.

Kashvi was walking fast in the corridor while saying,

ā€œJaldi chal na!ā€

Saanvi followed behind her and replied,

ā€œHaan chal hi toh rahi hoon.ā€

Both of them finally reached near the classroom.

There they saw Netrabhan, Ishvik, and Eshaan standing outside again.

For a moment all five of them looked at each other.

Then Ishvik said,

ā€œChalo, chalo chalte hain.ā€

They all nodded and were just about to enter—

When suddenly a voice came from behind.

ā€œArey! Mere liye bhi ruko!ā€

All five of them turned their heads at the same time.

It was Aarohi running toward them.

Ishvik immediately commented,

ā€œArey ziddi aafat! Aaj tu late aayi hai? Kya baat hai… yakeen nahi ho raha.ā€

Aarohi glared at him.

ā€œMuhh band kar le Ishvik… nahi toh aaj pit jayega mere haath se.ā€

Ishvik placed his hand on his chest dramatically.

ā€œHaan haan, main toh dar gaya… koi bachao mujhe!ā€

Before Netrabhan or Eshaan could say anything—

Kashvi suddenly spoke.

ā€œApna muhh band karo.ā€

Then she looked at both Ishvik and Aarohi.

ā€œNahi toh dono ke dono pit jaoge. Andar chalo.ā€

Both of them immediately went quiet.

Eshaan chuckled softly.

All of them walked inside the classroom together.

Luckily for them—

Today the teacher was absent.

The class was already noisy with students talking loudly.

The six of them walked to their usual seats and sat down.

—

After entering the classroom, Kashvi, Saanvi, and Aarohi sat on their bench and started talking among themselves.

The class was already noisy since the teacher was absent.

Students were chatting, laughing, and moving around freely.

Suddenly—

A loud girl’s voice came from the door.

ā€œHello guys!ā€

Hearing the voice, almost everyone in the class turned their heads toward the door.

Kashvi and Saanvi also looked in that direction.

Then both of them leaned slightly toward Aarohi and asked at the same time,

ā€œYeh kaun hai?ā€

Aarohi rolled her eyes and replied,

ā€œOveracting ki dukaan.ā€

Kashvi looked confused.

ā€œKya?ā€

Aarohi sighed and said,

ā€œClass ki monitor.ā€

Saanvi frowned a little.

ā€œLekin class ki monitor toh tu hai na?ā€

Aarohi shook her head.

ā€œSirf ek mahine ke liye thi.ā€

Then she pointed slightly toward the girl standing at the door and said,

ā€œKyuki yeh overacting ki dukaan ek mahine ke liye leave pe thi.ā€

Listening to this, Kashvi and Saanvi looked at the girl again—

___

Ishvik looked at her and muttered dramatically,

ā€œLo… aa gayi. Bas iski hi kami thi.ā€

Eshaan nodded in agreement and said,

ā€œWohi toh. Yeh ek mahina kitna shaant tha.ā€

Netrabhan heard them and just shook his head slightly, silently telling them to stop their commentary.

Meanwhile, the girl confidently walked inside the classroom and went straight toward her group of friends.

Smiling brightly, she said,

ā€œKaise ho tum log?ā€

Her friends immediately replied,

ā€œHum theek hain… tu bata Shivani, tu kaisi hai?ā€

Shivani flipped her hair slightly and said with full confidence,

ā€œObviously main toh theek hi rahungi.ā€

Then she added dramatically,

ā€œMere bina class ka kya haal ho gaya hoga… kitni boring ho gayi hogi na class?ā€

Her friends laughed at her overdramatic tone.

From their bench, Kashvi, Saanvi, and Aarohi were watching the whole scene.

Aarohi leaned slightly toward them and whispered,

ā€œDekha… isi liye bolti hoon overacting ki dukaan.ā€

Hearing this, Kashvi and Saanvi tried hard not to laugh.

After talking to her friends, Shivani suddenly turned her head toward Aarohi’s direction.

That’s when she noticed Kashvi and Saanvi sitting there.

She walked toward them with curious eyes and asked,

ā€œYeh dono kaun hai? Naye lagte hain.ā€

Aarohi replied casually,

ā€œNew joining hai… toh new hi lagenge na. Purane thodi.ā€

Hearing her reply, Ishvik gave a playful whistle from behind.

Shivani immediately turned and glared at him.

Ishvik pretended to look somewhere else.

Then Shivani looked back at Kashvi and Saanvi and asked again,

ā€œNew joining?ā€

Before Kashvi could reply, Saanvi spoke first.

ā€œKya lagta hai? Kabhi dekha hai hume iss class mein?ā€

Then she added,

ā€œAur Aarohi ne abhi bola na new joining hai… fir bhi puch rahi ho.ā€

At the back, Ishvik and Eshaan were quietly enjoying the scene.

They were trying hard not to laugh seeing how Saanvi and Aarohi were answering Shivani.

Kashvi noticed things were about to turn into an argument.

So she nudged Saanvi slightly and said softly,

ā€œSaanvi… chup karna.ā€

Then she looked at Shivani politely and said,

ā€œYeah… we both are new joining.ā€

Shivani nodded slowly, still observing them carefully—

While the others waited to see what would happen next.

But After Kashvi replied politely, Shivani didn’t say anything for a moment.

Instead, she looked at Kashvi carefully—

From head to toe.

Her eyes slowly scanned Kashvi from up to down, as if judging her.

Kashvi noticed it but stayed quiet.

Then without saying anything, Shivani simply turned around and walked back to her friends.

But this small moment didn’t go unnoticed by netrabhan.

Netrabhan had seen everything.

The way Shivani looked at Kashvi from up to down.

His eyebrows slightly frowned for a second.

He didn’t understand why—

But something about that look didn’t feel right to him.

Still, he didn’t say anything and just looked away—

While the class slowly returned to its usual noisy atmosphere again.

Soon the next period started and the teacher came.

Classes continued normally, and everyone stayed busy with lectures.

Time passed quickly—

And finally, it was lunch time.

Many students left the classroom and went outside.

Like usual, Ishvik, Eshaan, and Netrabhan decided to have lunch with Aarohi, Saanvi, and Kashvi.

All six of them were sitting together and eating while talking casually.

Suddenly—

Shivani walked toward them.

She stopped beside him and said,

ā€œHi Netrabhan.ā€

Hearing her voice, everyone’s eyes turned toward them.

Netrabhan simply nodded once in response.

Then Shivani said,

ā€œKya tum mujhe apna notes doge? Tumhe toh pata hi hai main itne din se absent thi.ā€

Netrabhan looked at her calmly and replied,

ā€œSorry… lekin main apne notes kisi ko nahi deta.ā€

The moment he said that—

Kashvi, Saanvi, and Aarohi suddenly started coughing.

Everyone immediately looked at them.

Ishvik, Eshaan, Netrabhan, and Shivani all turned toward them with confused expressions.

But netrabhan understood there reaction but he didnot said anything.

Ishvik quickly passed a water bottle to Saanvi while Eshaan gave another one to Kashvi.

Then Ishvik said,

ā€œAaram se khao… itni bhi kya jaldi hai?ā€

The three girls quickly drank some water and just nodded silently.

After Kashvi, Saanvi, and Aarohi stopped coughing and drank some water—

They tried to act normal.

But Shivani was still looking at them.

Her eyes narrowed slightly as she looked at the three girls weirdly, clearly confused by their sudden reaction.

Shivani still didn’t look fully convinced.

But she didn’t say anything more.

Instead, she looked once again at Netrabhan and said,

ā€œTheek hai… agar tum notes nahi dena chahte toh koi baat nahi.ā€

Then she turned and walked away from there.

As soon as she left—

Aarohi leaned slightly toward Kashvi and whispered,

ā€œDekha? Kisi ko notes nahi detaā€¦ā€

Saanvi tried to suppress her laugh.

While Kashvi quietly focused on her lunch—

Trying not to look toward Netrabhan at that moment.

After Shivani left, silence stayed for a few moments while everyone continued eating.

Then after a few minutes, Netrabhan suddenly asked,

ā€œAaj fir se class bunk karne ka irada hai kya?ā€

Hearing this, Ishvik and Eshaan immediately shook their heads.

ā€œNahi toh,ā€ they replied together.

But Kashvi, Saanvi, and Aarohi didn’t say anything.

They just kept eating quietly.

A few seconds passed.

Then Kashvi slowly spoke,

ā€œTab toh mood nahi thaā€¦ā€

She paused and then looked at Aarohi and Saanvi.

ā€œLekin ab naam le hi liya hai… toh kya bolte ho?ā€

Aarohi raised her eyebrows and smiled slightly.

Saanvi also looked interested.

Before they could answer—

Netrabhan calmly replied,

ā€œHaan kyun nahiā€¦ā€

Then he added in a slightly serious tone,

ā€œJao… aur kuch der baad office room mein chale jaana.ā€

Hearing that, ishvik and eshaan immediately understood he was taunting them.

Hearing Netrabhan’s words, Kashvi frowned slightly.

She looked at him and asked,

ā€œMatlab? Hum office room kyun jayenge? Aap kehna kya chahte hain?ā€

Netrabhan slowly turned completely toward her, facing her directly.

Their eyes met.

Calmly, he replied,

ā€œJi… main yehi kehna chahta hoon ki aap log jaiye.ā€

Then he added in a composed tone,

ā€œMain mam ko bata kar aap logon ka doosra adventure tayar karata hoon.ā€

For a moment, Kashvi was speechless.

Then she quickly looked away and muttered under her breath,

ā€œKitne woh haiā€¦ā€

But unfortunately for her—

Netrabhan heard it.

A faint smile appeared on his face.

However, he quickly masked it, returning to his usual calm expression as if nothing had happened.

Meanwhile—

The rest of the group had noticed everything.

Ishvik and Eshaan exchanged knowing looks.

Saanvi and Aarohi were trying hard not to laugh.

But they weren’t the only ones watching.

From a little distance—

Shivani had also seen the whole interaction.

The way Netrabhan turned toward Kashvi…

The eye contact…

And that small hidden smile.

Her expression immediately changed.

Her eyes hardened.

Inside—

She was burning with anger.

Lunch time ended and everyone returned to the classroom.

The next class started normally, but after one period the remaining periods were free since the teachers were absent.

Kashvi got bored sitting in the class.

She turned toward Saanvi and Aarohi and said,

ā€œChalo chalte hain.ā€

Both of them looked at her and asked,

ā€œKidhar?ā€

Kashvi rolled her eyes and replied,

ā€œBahar… aur kidhar jana hai kya tum log ko jo puch rahe ho kidhar?ā€

Both of them smiled sheepishly and stood up.

The three of them started walking toward the door.

But someone was watching them.

Shivani.

She saw them leaving and quietly stretched her leg in the middle of their path.

Kashvi didn’t notice it.

She continued walking—

And suddenly tripped over Shivani’s leg and fell on the ground.

The entire class looked toward the noise.

Shivani smirked seeing Kashvi fall.

Saanvi and Aarohi immediately rushed to her and helped her stand up.

While helping her, Saanvi noticed Shivani slowly pulling her leg back.

Her eyes narrowed.

She looked at Shivani and said,

ā€œEk baar idhar aana.ā€

Shivani looked confused but still walked toward them.

The moment she reached—

Aarohi suddenly stretched her leg in front of Shivani.

And because of that—

Shivani lost her balance and fell on the floor.

The class gasped.

Saanvi looked at her angrily and said,

ā€œAagli baar se aisa kuch kiya na… toh muh tod dungi.ā€

Shivani quickly stood up, furious.

ā€œAaye hue ek week bhi nahi hua aur inka tewar toh dekho! Bhool mat… main class ki monitor hoon!ā€

Aarohi crossed her arms.

ā€œMonitor hai toh kya? Sar pe nachegi? Jo mann hoga woh karegi?ā€

Saanvi sighed.

ā€œAarohi chhod na… iss overacting ki dukaan se kya muh lag rahi hai. Chal Kashvi ke paas chalte, pata nahi kidhar chali gayi.ā€

Hearing that, Shivani shouted,

ā€œOye! Yeh overacting ki dukaan kise bola?ā€

Saanvi turned and replied casually,

ā€œTumhe bola. Overacting ki dukaan kahin ki.ā€

Shivani stepped forward angrily.

ā€œTumhe tohā€”ā€

But Aarohi cut her off.

ā€œChal chal… overacting ki dukaan.ā€

Both of them walked away.

Meanwhile—

When Kashvi had stood up earlier and saw the entire class staring at her, embarrassment rushed through her.

Without saying anything—

She ran out of the classroom.

From the back of the class, Netrabhan had seen everything.

He saw how Kashvi fell.

How Saanvi and Aarohi helped her.

And how, after seeing everyone staring at her—

She ran away.

Something about that didn’t sit right with him.

So he quietly left the classroom and started searching for her.

He checked the corridors…

Then the staircase…

Then garden....

And finally—

He reached the school terrace.

There he saw her.

Kashvi was standing near the edge of the terrace, looking at the sky.

Tears were rolling down her cheeks.

She wiped them again and again but they kept coming.

Her voice trembled as she whispered to herself,

ā€œSab log mujhe dekh rahe theā€¦ā€

She looked down helplessly.

ā€œKya soch rahe honge mere bare meinā€¦ā€

She covered her face and continued crying softly.

Just then—

Netrabhan slowly approached her.

For a moment he just stood there, looking at her.

Kashvi was still wiping her tears, her back slightly turned toward him as she looked at the sky.

He softly called her name,

ā€œKashviā€¦ā€

Hearing her name, Kashvi froze for a second.

She quickly wiped her tears with the back of her hand and turned around.

Seeing Netrabhan standing there—

She got slightly startled.

ā€œAap…?ā€ she said, trying to sound normal.

Netrabhan looked at her for a moment.

Her eyes were red from crying.

Netrabhan’s POV:

I slowly walked toward her.

She was standing near the edge of the terrace, looking at the sky while wiping her tears again and again.

Seeing her like that felt… strange.

I had never seen her this quiet before.

I called softly,

ā€œKashviā€¦ā€

She immediately turned her face away and tried to wipe her tears quickly, as if she didn’t want anyone to see her crying.

For a moment I just stood there, not knowing what to say.

Then I spoke,

ā€œDon’t cry.ā€

She didn’t say anything.

Her shoulders were still slightly shaking.

After a few seconds I asked,

ā€œlogon kya sochenge aapke liye itna matter karta hai?ā€

She looked down and stayed silent.

Honestly, I didn’t like seeing her like this.

So I decided to change the mood a little.

Trying to sound casual, I said,

ā€œChaliye… class bunk karte hain.ā€

She looked at me in surprise.

Then she sniffed slightly and said,

ā€œOhh… agar mujhe tabhi karne dete toh main aise girti nahi ab tak.ā€

Hearing that, a small smile appeared on my face.

Even after crying, her mind was still stuck on bunking classes.

So I looked at her and said lightly,

ā€œMatlab abhi bhi aapke dimag se gaya nahi hai bunk karne ka?ā€

She looked at me with slightly annoyed eyes.

For a moment there was silence between us.

After a few seconds of silence, she suddenly extended her hand toward me.

For a moment, I didn’t understand what she was doing.

Then she said a little nervously,

ā€œFriends?ā€

I looked at her hand and then at her face.

Raising my eyebrow slightly, I said,

ā€œAur agar mujhe friends nahi banna ho toh?ā€

She paused.

Then she muttered softly to herself,

ā€œToh kuch aur hi ban jaiyeā€¦ā€

I frowned slightly.

ā€œKya?ā€ I asked.

She immediately shook her head.

ā€œKuch nahi.ā€

Then she slowly lowered her hand and said,

ā€œAb aapko nahi banna hai toh main kya kar sakti hoon.ā€

After saying that, she turned away from me and started looking at the sky again, pretending to be normal—

But I could clearly see the slight disappointment on her face.

For a moment I just stood there, thinking.

Then I finally said,

ā€œTheek hai.ā€

She quickly turned toward me with a confused expression.

ā€œHuhh?ā€

I extended my hand toward her and said,

ā€œFriends.ā€

For a second she didn’t react.

She was just looking at my face… then at my hand… then again at my face, as if making sure she heard it right.

Her eyes still looked a little red from crying, but now there was a small hint of surprise in them.

And for the first time since I came to the terrace—

She wasn’t crying anymore.

For a moment she kept looking at my hand.

Then slowly… a small smile appeared on her face.

Without saying anything, she placed her hand in mine and shook it.

ā€œFriends,ā€ she said softly.

Her grip was light, but somehow it felt… warm.

For a second we both just stood there like that.

Then she quickly pulled her hand back and looked away again, pretending to look at the sky.

But this time—

She wasn’t crying.

Instead, there was a small smile on her face.

Kashvi was still looking at the sky, not at me.

Then she said,

ā€œWaise aapse ek baat puchun?ā€

I replied simply,

ā€œHaan.ā€

She continued looking at the sky and said,

ā€œMaine toh suna tha… aap jaldi ladkiyon se friendship nahi karte.ā€

Then she paused for a second.

ā€œPhir aaj yeh kaise… kyun?ā€

Her question caught me off guard.

I didn’t say anything immediately.

Because honestly—

I didn’t know the answer myself.

I didn’t know what I was feeling.

Or why I was feeling this way.

Why I came here searching for her.

Why I couldn’t ignore her tears.

Why seeing her smile now felt…

relieving.

For the first time in a long while—

I had no answer.

I stayed silent for a few seconds, still thinking about her question.

Before I could say anything, Kashvi spoke again.

She was still looking at the sky, not at me.

ā€œChaliye chodiye… agar aapko nahi bolna hai toh.ā€

Her tone was casual, but it felt like she understood that I didn’t have an answer.

I looked at her for a moment.

Then I said,

ā€œAisa nahi hai ki main bolna nahi chahtaā€¦ā€

I paused slightly.

ā€œā€¦bas jawab nahi pata.ā€

She finally turned her head a little and looked at me.

There was a faint smile on her face now.

The wind was blowing softly on the terrace, and for the first time since coming here—

Everything felt strangely calm.

Just when everything had become calm

Suddenly we heard a loud voice.

Not just a voice… someone was shouting.

ā€œKashviii… Kashviii…!ā€
