Chapter 8

Hello everyone đź’–

Happy reading đź“–

Author Pov:

After searching almost the whole school, Saanvi and Aarohi finally reached the terrace.

The door was slightly open.

As soon as they stepped in, they heard soft sobbing.

Their eyes immediately went toward the corner—

And there they saw Kashvi, standing near the edge, looking at the sky while wiping her tears again and again.

For a moment, both of them felt bad seeing her like that.

But before they could go near her—

They noticed someone else standing there.

Netrabhan.

He was standing a little distance away from Kashvi, quietly talking to her.

Saanvi and Aarohi exchanged a look.

Without making any noise, they stayed near the door, observing.

They saw how Kashvi slowly stopped crying…

How Netrabhan tried to lighten her mood…

And then—

They saw Kashvi extending her hand.

Both of them widened their eyes in surprise.

“Friends?”

Even from a distance, they could understand what was happening.

Then after a moment of pause—

Netrabhan also extended his hand.

And they shook hands.

Saanvi and Aarohi looked at each other again and this time—

A small smirk appeared on their faces.

Saanvi whispered,

“tu bhi wohi soch rahi hai jo mai soch rahi hu.”

Aarohi nodded slightly, equally amused.

After that, they decided not to interrupt immediately.

But Saanvi couldn’t hold herself anymore.

She pushed the door open loudly and shouted,

“Kashviii! Kashviii!”

Kashvi and netrabhan both turned our heads toward the terrace door.

Within a few seconds, Saanvi and Aarohi appeared there, slightly out of breath as if they had been searching everywhere.

The moment Saanvi saw Kashvi, she quickly walked toward her.

“Tu yahan hai! Pata hai hum dono kab se tujhe dhoond rahe hai?”

Aarohi crossed her arms and said dramatically,

“Pure school ka chakkar laga liya humne.”

Kashvi looked a little embarrassed and said softly,

“Main bas… thodi der ke liye yahan aa gayi thi.”

Then suddenly Saanvi’s eyes shifted toward Netrabhan.

She raised her eyebrows slightly.

Aarohi also looked at netrabhan and then back at Kashvi.

Both of them exchanged a knowing look.

And netrabhan immediately understood—

Now the teasing was about to start.

After a moment, Saanvi said,

“Chal ab… class chalte hai.”

Kashvi nodded.

For a second, she looked toward netrabhan.

Then she said softly,

“Chaliye?”

Netrabhan just nodded.

All four of us walked toward the terrace door and started going back.

The corridor was almost empty since the classes were already going on.

Soon we reached the classroom.

Kashvi, Saanvi, and Aarohi went inside and sat on their seats.

Netrabhan walked toward his bench and sat down quietly.

Classes continued like normal—

But for some reason…

Netrabhan mind was still stuck on the terrace moment.

Soon the classes ended.

The final bell rang, and students started packing their bags and leaving the classroom.

Kashvi, Saanvi, Aarohi, Ishvik, Eshaan, and Netrabhan were also getting ready to leave.

They slowly walked out of the class together while talking casually.

From the other side of the classroom—

Shivani was watching them.

Her eyes followed them as they walked away laughing and talking.

One of her friends noticed and asked,

“Kya dekh rahi hai?”

Shivani slightly frowned and said to her friends,

“Yeh logon ka kuch zyada hi nahi ho raha hai?”

Then she added with an annoyed tone,

“Khaas karke yeh Aarohi aur uss Saanvi ka.”

Her friend nodded slightly.

But Shivani’s eyes then shifted toward Kashvi, who was walking quietly between them.

She smirked a little and said,

“Aur woh Kashvi…”

“Dikhne mein toh bilkul masoom lagti hai.”

Then her expression turned a little serious.

She said slowly,

“Yeh Kashvi ka kuch karna padega.”

Her friends looked at her in surprise.

“Kyun?”

Shivani smirked and replied,

“Yeh kuch zyada hi close ho rahi hai.”

While saying this, her gaze again moved toward the direction where Kashvi and the others had just left.

And from the look on her face—

It was clear she wasn’t happy about it at all.

✧

Soon everyone reached the main gate of the school.

It was time to go home.

All of them stood there for a moment before leaving.

Aarohi said,

“Chalo kal milte hai.”

Saanvi nodded.

“Haan… bye.”

Ishvik and Eshaan also waved their hands saying,

“Bye guys.”

While everyone was saying goodbye—

For a brief moment Kashvi and Netrabhan’s eyes met.

They both looked at each other silently.

It was just for a second—

But the rest of the group noticed it.

Aarohi and Saanvi exchanged a small smirk.

Meanwhile, Eshaan leaned slightly toward Ishvik and whispered,

“Yeh logon ka toh chemistry aage badh raha hai… maza aayega bahut.”

Ishvik smirked and replied quietly,

“Aur nahi toh kya.”

Both of them tried to control their laughter while looking at Kashvi and Netrabhan, who had no idea what they were whispering about.

And after that—

Everyone slowly started leaving for their homes.

✧

Netrabhan’s POV –

After reaching home, I went to my room.

I threw my bag on the bed and sat down on the chair.

Usually after coming home I start studying immediately.

But today…

My mind wasn’t focusing at all.

Instead, my thoughts kept going back to today’s events.

First the classroom incident…

Then how Kashvi fell down.

And how she suddenly ran out of the class.

Without thinking much, I had followed her.

I still remembered how she was standing on the terrace, crying while looking at the sky.

For some reason…

Seeing her like that didn’t feel right.

Then I remembered when she extended her hand and said, “Friends?”

A small smile appeared on my face while thinking about it.

And then her question—

“Maine suna hai aap jaldi ladkiyon se friendship nahi karte… phir aaj kaise?”

I leaned back in my chair and looked at the ceiling.

Honestly…

Even now I don’t know the answer to that question.

Why did I go looking for her?

Why did her tears bother me?

Why did I agree to be friends so easily?

And why—

When we were leaving the school gate…

Did I look back at her again?

I shook my head slightly and muttered to myself,

“Yeh kya ho raha hai mujhe…”

But even after saying that—

My mind again went back to her smile on the terrace.

And without realizing it—

I was still thinking about Kashvi.

✧

Kashvi’s POV –

After coming back home, I went straight to my room.

I kept my bag on the table and sat on the bed for a moment.

Today’s whole day started playing in my mind like a movie.

First the class…

Then that stupid fall.

Just thinking about it again made me feel embarrassed.

I covered my face with my hands and groaned softly.

“Hayee… sab log mujhe hi dekh rahe the.”

The whole class was staring at me.

God knows what they must have been thinking.

That moment felt so embarrassing that I couldn’t even stay there for one more second.

That’s why I ran out of the class.

And then…

My thoughts went to the terrace.

I remembered standing there and crying while looking at the sky.

I whispered to myself,

“Kitni stupid lag rahi hongi na mai…”

But then suddenly I remembered something.

Or rather—

Someone.

Netrabhan.

I sat up straight on my bed.

“Woh… wahan kaise aa gaye the?”

I didn’t even notice when he came near me.

But he saw me crying.

Just thinking about that made me feel slightly embarrassed again.

Then I remembered what he said.

“Itne logon ki opinion aapke liye itni matter karti hai?”

I stared at the ceiling.

I didn’t know why…

But his words actually made me think.

Then I remembered the moment when I extended my hand and said,

“Friends?”

I quickly covered my face with the pillow.

“Pagal ho kya Kashvi!”

Why did I say that so suddenly?

And when he asked “Aur agar mujhe friends nahi banna ho toh?”

For a second my heart actually dropped.

But then…

He said “Theek hai.”

And extended his hand.

A small smile slowly appeared on my face while remembering it.

I whispered softly,

“Friends…”

Then I suddenly remembered something else.

When I asked him,

“Aap jaldi ladkiyon se friendship nahi karte… phir aaj kaise?”

And he couldn’t answer.

I smiled slightly.

“lekin unhone jawab hi nhi diya mujhe janna tha…”

I got up from the bed and went to my study table.

Then I took out my diary.

Opening it slowly, I started writing.

“Aaj ka din thoda embarrassing tha… lekin shayad thoda special bhi.”

“Aaj meri aur Netrabhan ki friendship hui.”

“Aur mujhe pata nahi kyun… lekin jab woh terrace pe aaye na… toh mujhe bilkul akela nahi laga.”

I stopped writing for a moment.

Then I softly whispered to myself,

“Yeh kya ho raha hai mujhe…”

Because for some reason—

Even after the whole day ended,

My mind kept going back to him.

I was sitting on my bed, still lost in my thoughts, when suddenly—

Saanvi came to my house.

“Arey tu yahan baithi hai!” she said while entering my room casually.

I smiled a little,

“Aaja…”

We both sat on the bed and started talking about the whole day.

From the fall… to the terrace… to everything.

But suddenly, Saanvi’s expression changed a little.

She leaned closer and said,

“Aur ek baat bataun?”

I looked at her curiously.

“Haan bol na.”

She continued,

“Jab hum tujhe dhoond rahe the na… tab asal mein kya hua…”

I frowned slightly,

“Kya?”

She started explaining,

“Main aur Aarohi alag-alag tujhe dhoond rahe the.”

“Tabhi mai aise hi chal rahi thi… mai saamne dekh hi nahi rahi thi…”

She paused a little.

“Aur main kisi se takra gayi.”

I raised my eyebrows,

“Phir?”

She rolled her eyes slightly and said,

“Woh insaan ne mujhe pakad liya… main toh chillane wali thi…”

Then her voice got softer.

“Lekin jaise hi maine upar dekha…”

She looked at me meaningfully.

“…toh woh koi aur nahi… Eshaan tha.”

I got shocked hearing that.

“WHAT?!”

She nodded and continued,

“Aur tujhe ek baat bataun…?”

I stared at her.

She said slowly,

“Jab maine usse dekha na… woh bas mujhe hi dekhe ja raha tha.”

For a second—

I was completely silent.

Processing what she just said.

Then I said,

“Sach mein??”

Saanvi nodded again, slightly confused herself.

“Hmm…”

I looked at her carefully.

Her expression wasn’t normal.

She looked… confused.

I smirked a little and said,

“Ohooo… kuch toh ho raha hai.”

She immediately reacted,

“Chup kar! Aisa kuch nahi hai.”

But the way she said it—

Made it even more obvious.

And I just kept looking at her, smiling—

Because clearly,

Yahan sirf meri story nahi chal rahi thi.

Saanvi looked at me, still confused and a little restless.

Then she said softly,

“Kashvi… mujhe sach mein kuch samajh nahi aa raha hai.”

I looked at her carefully.

She continued,

“Woh jab bhi paas hota hai na… meri heartbeat fast ho jaati hai.”

Hearing that—

I couldn’t stop myself.

I started laughing.

Saanvi immediately frowned and said,

“Tu has rahi hai? Main idhar tension mein hoon!”

I controlled my laugh and said teasingly,

“Hota hai aisa…”

She narrowed her eyes and asked,

“Tujhe hota hai kya aise?”

Her question made me pause.

For a moment—

I didn’t answer.

Instead, my mind instantly went to—

The terrace.

That handshake.

That eye contact.

And… him.

I quickly looked away from Saanvi and tried to act normal.

Then I said casually,

“Nahi… mujhe kyu hoga.”

But inside—

I knew I was lying.

Because for some reason—

Whenever he was around…

Something did feel different.

Eshaan Pov -

I still remember the first day I saw her.

New admissions had come, and like always, everyone was curious.

That’s when I noticed her—

Saanvi.

She wasn’t doing anything extraordinary.

Just standing there with Kashvi

But still…

My attention stayed on her a little longer than usual.

And I didn’t even know why.

Then came that moment with Shivani.

She asked in her usual tone,

“Yeh dono kaun hai?”

Before anyone else could respond—

Saanvi replied.

Calmly.

Confidently.

“Kya lagta hai? Kabhi dekha hai hume iss class mein?

I remember exchanging a look with Ishvik.

We both were trying not to laugh.

Because no one usually talks back to Shivani like that.

But she did.

And not just once—

She kept replying.

Without hesitation.

Without fear.

At that moment, I thought—

“Interesting…”

Then days passed.

We all started sitting together.

Talking.

Laughing.

And somehow—

She became a part of the group so easily.

But today…

Something felt different.

When we were searching for Kashvi—

I was walking through the corridor, not really paying attention.

And suddenly—

Someone bumped into me.

Before she could fall, I instinctively held her.

For a second, everything just… stopped.

I looked down—

And it was her.

Saanvi.

For a moment…

Everything just stopped.

She looked up at me.

Her eyes were wide at first—slightly shocked.

But then…

They softened.

And still—

She didn’t look away immediately.

That’s what caught me.

Most people would.

But she didn’t.

There was no fear.

No awkward panic.

Just a quiet confusion.

As if even she didn’t understand what just happened.

And I realized—

I was staring.

At her.

At her eyes.

At the way they held so much without saying anything—

Confidence… curiosity… something unspoken.

I don’t know how long that moment lasted.

But it felt longer than it should have.

Long enough for me to forget everything around me.

I don’t know what it was.

But I couldn’t look away.

Then suddenly she stepped back.

And the moment broke.

When I think about today—

It’s not the corridor.

Not the chaos.

Not even the search.

What stays with me is—

Her eyes.

The way she looked at me.

The way she didn’t look away.

And the way, for some reason—

I couldn’t either.

Even now—

When I close my eyes—

The first thing I remember isn’t the moment we bumped into each other…

It’s the way she looked at me.

Author’s POV

That night—

Everything seemed normal.

Everyone was in their own homes, in their own rooms.

But their minds—

Were anything but normal.

Kashvi was lying on her bed, staring at the ceiling.

Thinking about the terrace…

The fall…

And most of all—

That handshake.

A small smile appeared on her face without her realizing it.

At the same time—

Netrabhan was sitting in his room, books open in front of him.

But his eyes weren’t on the pages.

His thoughts kept drifting back to—

Her tears…

Her smile…

And that one simple word— “Friends.”

He sighed lightly, not understanding himself.

In another room—

Saanvi was lying on her bed, turning from one side to another.

Her mind replayed that moment again and again—

When she bumped into Eshaan.

The way he held her…

The way he was looking at her…

She placed her hand on her chest.

Her heartbeat felt faster even now.

And then—

Eshaan.

He was sitting near his window, looking outside.

Lost in his thoughts.

That one moment in the corridor—

Kept coming back again and again.

Her face…

Her eyes…

Her voice…

He didn’t know why—

But he couldn’t ignore it.

And like that—

All four of them were lost in their own thoughts.

Restless.

And unknowingly—

Getting closer to something they didn’t understand yet

✧

The next morning wasn’t the same.

At Kashvi’s house, things were quiet.

Kashvi wasn’t feeling well.

Because of yesterday’s incident—

The embarrassment…

The crying…

She was too sensitive, and it had affected her.

She had a fever.

Even then, she tried to get ready for school.

But when her mother touched her forehead—

She immediately stopped her.

“Tumhe bukhar hai kashvi. Aaj kahin nahi jaana. Rest karo.”

Kashvi didn’t argue.

She quietly went back to her room and lay down.

Meanwhile—

After some time, Saanvi reached her house.

She greeted Kashvi’s mother and asked,

“Aunty, Kashvi hai? Bulana zara.”

Her mother replied,

“Beta woh aaj school nahi jaa rahi. Usse fever hai, rest kar rahi hai.”

Saanvi nodded slowly.

She understood.

“Kal royi thi na…” she thought.

She knew Kashvi well.

How sensitive she was.

How even a little emotional stress affected her.

And how—

After crying, she often ended up with headache or fever.

Her expression changed slightly.

“Sab uss Shivani ki wajah se hua…” she thought, clenching her fist lightly.

Without disturbing Kashvi, she said bye and left for school.

Soon, she reached the school.

Walking through the corridor, her mind was still on Kashvi.

She entered the classroom and quietly went to her seat.

For the first time—

Something felt missing.

✧

After a few minutes, the teacher entered the class and started teaching.

The class became quiet.

But just as she began—

From the back door, Ishvik, Eshaan, Netrabhan, and Aarohi hurriedly entered the classroom.

“Sorry ma’am,” they said together and quickly went to their seats.

The moment Netrabhan stepped inside—

His eyes automatically started searching.

Row by row… bench by bench…

But—

He couldn’t find Kashvi.

For a second, he thought,

“Late hogi…”

But then his eyes stopped at Saanvi.

She was already sitting.

A small frown appeared on his face.

“Agar Saanvi aa gayi hai… toh Kashvi kahan hai?”

Still thinking that, he sat down.

Meanwhile, Aarohi leaned slightly toward Saanvi and whispered,

“Kashvi kidhar hai? Woh nahi aayi kya?”

Saanvi looked at her and then said softly,

“Nahi… usse fever hai.”

The moment she said that—

Netrabhan heard it.

He frowned slightly and murmured to himself,

“Fever?”

From the backbench, Ishvik asked,

“Ek hi baar mein fever kaise aa gaya?”

Saanvi slightly turned back and said,

“Woh kal royi thi na… isliye.”

Hearing that, Eshaan asked, confused,

“Rone se fever aata hai?”

Saanvi turned fully this time—

But for a moment, she just looked at him.

As if she forgot what she was about to say.

“A… main…”

Before she could answer—

Aarohi jumped in,

“Bol na Saanvi.”

Saanvi quickly looked away and said,

“Arey nahi… matlab haan… woh na thodi zyada sensitive hai. Agar zyada ro deti hai na

, toh usse headache aur fever ho jaata hai.”

There was a brief silence after that.

Everyone processed what she said.

And unconsciously—

Netrabhan’s mind went back to yesterday.

Her falling…

Her running away…

Her crying on the terrace…

His expression changed slightly.

And for the first time that day—

He wasn’t thinking about studies.

He was just thinking about—

Her.

And that’s a wrap for this chapter…

I really want to know, how was it? Did you enjoy reading it? And tell me honestly, which moment did you like the most or stayed with you?
