Author Pov

Saanvi had heard every single word Kashvi had said that day in the library.

"Mujhse jab koi baat nahi karta na... mujhe bohot rona aata hai..."

"Maar lo... gussa ho lo... lekin baat karna mat band karo..."

Those words kept echoing inside her mind.

She wanted to go inside.

She wanted to hug Kashvi.

She wanted to apologize.

But guilt stopped her.

Silently, she turned around and left.

---

The same thing continued for the whole week.

Every day, Kashvi tried talking to Saanvi.

"Saanvi... kya hua?"

"Kuch baat hai?"

"Maine kuch galat kiya hai?"

But every single time...

Saanvi avoided her.

Sometimes she simply nodded.

Sometimes she ignored her completely.

Sometimes she walked away without saying a word.

Slowly...

Kashvi stopped asking.

Not because she didn't care.

But because she thought...

"Shayad jab uska gussa shant hoga... woh khud bata degi."

---

Finally...

The last exam ended.

Everyone came out happily.

"No more exams!" Ishvik shouted dramatically.

"Finally!" Aarohi sighed.

Everyone laughed.

Soon all of them gathered in the canteen.

Ishvik and Aarohi had already started their daily argument.

"Agar mere marks kam aaye tab dekh lena ishvik."

"Maine kya kiya?"

"Subah muh dikha diya tha."

"Excuse me?"

Everyone burst into laughter.

Even Netrabhan smiled.

---

Meanwhile...

Saanvi stood outside the canteen.

She took a deep breath.

"Bas... aaj sab se jake kar baat karungi."

"Sabse sorry bolungi..."

"Especially Kashu se..."

She slowly started walking towards them.

But before she could reach...

Shivani came in front of her.

She looked towards the group and smirked.

"Dekha?"

"Tumhe ek baar bhi pucha tak nhi."

Saanvi looked towards them.

Everyone was laughing loudly.

She didn't know they were laughing because of Ishvik.

Shivani continued,

"Aur ek tum ho..."

"Jo soch rahi thi ki woh log tumhara wait karenge."

"Dekho ek baar bhi kisi ne tumhe dhoonda?"

"Tum ho ya na ho..."

"Kya farak padta hai?"

Saanvi remained silent.

Her heart started sinking.

Shivani smiled victoriously.

"Mera kaam tha tumhe sach dikhana."

"Ab maanna ya na maanna..."

"That's your choice."

Saying this, she left.

Saanvi kept looking towards the canteen.

Her overthinking had already taken control again.

"Shayad... sach mein..."

"Meri zarurat kisi ko nahi hai..."

Just then...

Eshaan noticed her.

"Saanvi!"

She looked up.

"Tum udhar kya kar rahi ho?"

"Aao na..."

"Sab tumhara hi wait kar rahe hain."

Hearing this...

Something inside her broke.

She smiled bitterly.

"Dikh raha hai..."

"Kitna wait kar rahe ho tum sab."

Without waiting for anyone's reply...

She turned and walked away.

Everyone froze.

"Kya hua isse?" Ishvik asked.

Aarohi looked confused.

Eshaan frowned.

Even Netrabhan looked worried.

Before anyone could move...

Kashvi stood up.

"Aap log yahi rukiye."

"Main lekar aati hu usse."

Everyone nodded.

---

The classroom was completely empty.

Only Saanvi was sitting on the last bench.

Her eyes were fixed on the floor.

Kashvi slowly walked towards her.

She sat beside her carefully.

"Saanu..."

No reply.

"Kya hua?"

"Please... kuch toh bata."

Saanvi clenched her fists.

Kashvi again asked softly,

"Maine kuch kiya hai kya?"

Suddenly...

Saanvi stood up.

"Kya hai?"

"Jaa na..."

"Un logon ke paas."

"Kyu aayi hai idhar ab?"

Kashvi immediately stood up.

She got scared hearing Saanvi shout.

Saanvi noticed it.

She saw fear in Kashvi's eyes.

For a second...

She wanted to stop.

But her insecurities spoke louder.

Kashvi slowly tried holding her hand.

"Saanu..."

"Hum sab tera hi wait kar rahe the."

Saanvi immediately jerked her hand away.

"Koi zarurat nahi hai jhooth bolne ki!"

"Aur dikhawa karne ki bhi nahi!"

"Tu idhar kya kar rahi hai?"

"Jaa."

"Jaa na."

"Aarohi wait kar rahi hogi."

Kashvi looked at her in disbelief.

"Aarohi?"

"Woh kaha se beech mein aa gayi?"

Saanvi laughed bitterly.

"Wohi toh."

"Woh aa gayi hai humare beech."

Kashvi frowned.

"Kya bol rahi hai tu?"

Saanvi's voice became louder.

"Haan!"

"Wohi aa gayi hai humari dosti ke beech."

"Har jagah bas Aarohi."

"Ab tujhe meri zarurat hi kaha hai."

"Usne mujhe replace kar diya."

"Har cheez mein."

"Pata nahi kyu maine uske saath dosti ki."

This time...

Kashvi lost her patience.

"Bohot bol liya."

"Jabse dekh rahi hu jo mann mein aa raha hai bolti ja rahi hai."

"Aarohi ke baare mein agar ek aur word bola na..."

"Toh mujhse bura koi nahi hoga."

Saanvi's eyes filled with tears.

"Main bolungi."

"Kyuki woh hi humare beech aayi hai."

"Woh-"

Before she could continue...

Thud!

Both of them turned.

A notebook had fallen on the floor.

Standing near the classroom door...

Was Aarohi.

Tears were flowing from her eyes.

She had heard everything.

Her voice trembled.

"Sorry..."

"I think..."

"Mujhe nahi aana chahiye tha."

Without waiting...

She turned and ran away.

Kashvi looked towards Saanvi.

Pain.

Disappointment.

Anger.

Everything was visible in her eyes.

She spoke softly.

"Maine kabhi nahi socha tha..."

"Ki tu kabhi aisa karegi."

"Ya aisi baatein bolegi."

She took a deep breath.

"Mujhe yeh bhi pata hai..."

"Ki yeh sab tere dimaag mein kisi aur ne dala hai."

Saanvi's eyes widened.

Kashvi continued,

"Lekin mujhe yeh nahi pata tha..."

"Ki tu dusron ki baaton mein itni jaldi aa jayegi."

"Jabki tujhe pata hai..."

"Ki woh jhooth bolte hain."

There was complete silence.

Kashvi wiped her tears.

"Aaj tune sirf Aarohi ko nahi..."

"Mujhe bhi hurt kiya hai."

"And sabse zyada..."

"Apni dosti ko."

Without saying another word...

She walked away.

Leaving Saanvi alone.

Completely alone.

Saanvi slowly sat back on the bench.

Her hands were shaking.

"Maine... yeh kya bol diya?"

"Maine Aarohi ko itna hurt kar diya..."

"Kashu ko bhi..."

Tears rolled down her cheeks.

"I never wanted to hurt them..."

"I just..."

"I was scared..."

"Scared that I would lose Kashu..."

"But..."

She broke down completely.

For the first time...

She realized...

Sometimes overthinking doesn't just hurt you.

It hurts the people who love you the most.

---

The walk from the classroom to the canteen felt unusually silent.

Neither Kashvi nor Aarohi spoke a single word.

Aarohi's eyes were fixed on the ground.

She didn't trust herself to speak because she knew the moment she opened her mouth, the tears she was holding back would fall.

Kashvi walked beside her quietly.

She knew exactly how much those words had hurt Aarohi.

The rest of them were already sitting in the canteen.

The moment they saw the two girls arrive, everyone looked at them.

Something was clearly wrong.

Aarohi forced a tiny smile and quietly sat down.

Kashvi sat beside her.

No one spoke.

Even Ishvik, who usually couldn't stay quiet for more than a minute, remained silent.

He kept looking at Aarohi.

Something felt...off.

She wasn't teasing him.

She wasn't arguing.

She wasn't even looking at anyone.

She quietly opened her lunch box.

Her hands were trembling.

Very slightly...

But enough for Ishvik to notice.

He frowned.

"Kya hua isse?"

He wanted to ask.

More than anything.

But he also knew her.

If she didn't want to tell anyone...

She wouldn't.

Not now.

Without saying a word...

He slowly moved his hand beneath the table and gently placed it over hers.

Aarohi didn't even look down.

She already knew whose hand it was.

Without lifting her eyes...

She slowly intertwined her fingers with his.

Holding his hand tightly.

As if she needed someone to tell her-

"Main hoon na."

Ishvik's grip tightened just a little.

No words.

No questions.

Just silent reassurance.

The rest of them exchanged confused glances.

Only one person wasn't there.

Eshaan.

Because when Kashvi had left after meet Saanvi...

She had quietly told Eshaan,

"Saanvi ne bulaya hai class mein."

Lie..

And he had gone.

No one else knew.

Lunch finished in almost complete silence.

No teasing.

No arguments.

No laughter.

Something that almost never happened in their group.

After finishing, everyone walked back toward the classroom.

The moment Kashvi entered...

Her eyes immediately searched for one person.

Saanvi.

But her seat was empty.

She looked at Eshaan.

Kashvi: "Saanvi kahan hai?"

Eshaan answered naturally.

Eshaan: "Mam ne bulaya tha kisi kaam ke liye. Abhi wahi gayi hai."

Kashvi nodded slowly.

"Theek hai..."

Everyone sat at their places.

The silence still lingered.

Trying to lighten everyone's mood...

Ishvik suddenly stood up dramatically.

Ishvik: "Chalo bhai! Sports room chalte hain. Waise bhi aaj koi classes hone wali nahi hain."

No response.

He looked straight at Aarohi.

"...Aur madam, aap bhi."

Aarohi looked at him for a second before giving a small smile.

"Nahi... mujhe library mein thoda kaam hai."

"I'll come after some time."

Before anyone could stop her...

She quietly picked up her notebook and left.

Ishvik's eyes followed her until she disappeared outside the classroom.

His smile slowly faded.

He wanted to go after her.

But something stopped him.

Maybe...

She needed a little space.

Kashvi noticed everything.

She looked at the others.

"Aap log chaliye."

"Main dono ko leke aati hoon."

Everyone nodded.

"Theek hai."

They started leaving.

Just before stepping out...

Netrabhan instinctively turned back.

His eyes searched for only one person.

Kashvi.

As if she had already expected it...

She was already looking at him.

Their eyes met.

Without speaking...

His eyes seemed to say-

"Jaldi aana."

A soft smile appeared on Kashvi's face.

She blinked once.

"Haan."

A tiny smile appeared on Netrabhan's lips too.

Only then did he turn around...

And walk away with the others.

---

Meanwhile, in the library...

The library was almost empty.

Only the sound of pages turning and the ticking of the clock echoed through the silence.

Aarohi was sitting at the last bench.

Her head rested on the desk while silent tears kept falling. She didn't even bother wiping them anymore.

A few moments later...

Kashvi entered the library.

Her eyes immediately found Aarohi.

Without saying anything, she walked towards her, pulled the chair beside her and sat down quietly.

She gently placed her hand on Aarohi's shoulder.

"Aarohi..."

No reply.

Again she called softly,

"Aarohi..."

Aarohi quickly wiped her face with both hands and forced a tiny smile.

"Kya hua? Kuch kaam tha?"

Kashvi looked at her for a few seconds before speaking.

"Aarohi..."

Before she could continue...

Aarohi interrupted.

"Nahi Kashvi... tu yaha se chali ja... warna fir Saanvi ko bura lagega... aur woh sochegi ki mai tum dono ke beech aa gayi."

Kashvi's eyes widened.

She sighed deeply.

Then in a firm voice...

"Chup. Ekdum chup."

Aarohi looked at her.

Kashvi continued,

"Dono ko jo mann me aa raha hai woh bole ja rahe ho. Ek baar mere baare me bhi soch liya karo."

Then she suddenly looked towards one of the bookshelves.

Her voice became louder.

"Saanvi... samne aa."

Aarohi frowned.

"Saanvi?"

A few seconds passed.

Then...

Slowly...

Saanvi stepped out from behind the bookshelf.

She had been standing there all this time.

Her eyes were already filled with tears.

The moment Aarohi saw her...

She stood up immediately.

"Saanvi... tu tension mat le."

She smiled painfully.

"Mai ab se tum dono ke beech kabhi nahi aaungi."

A tear rolled down her cheek.

"Baat bhi nahi karungi... sach me... pakka."

Saanvi instantly shook her head.

"Nahi... nahi Aarohi..."

Her voice trembled.

"I'm sorry... maine bina soche samjhe bahut kuch bol diya..."

Aarohi interrupted softly.

"Nahi... tu tension mat le."

She smiled again... but this time it hurt.

"Ab se mai Kashvi se bhi door rahungi... aur tujhse bhi."

Those words pierced Kashvi's heart.

She looked at both of them.

One was blaming herself...

The other was punishing herself...

And both had completely forgotten about the person standing in front of them.

Her patience finally broke.

"Bas!"

Both of them looked at her.

Kashvi's eyes had become red.

"Jo mann me aa raha hai woh bole ja rahe ho."

She looked at Saanvi.

Then at Aarohi.

"Ek pehle se faltu ki baatein soch rahi thi..."

She pointed towards Saanvi.

"Aur dusri bhi ussi naav me baith gayi."

Now she pointed at Aarohi.

"Ek baar bhi kisi ne yeh nahi socha ki mujhe kaisa lag raha hai?"

Silence.

"Ek bol rahi hai mai replace ho gayi..."

"Dusri bol rahi hai mai door ho jaungi..."

Her voice cracked.

"Aur mai?"

Neither of them could answer.

Kashvi took a step back.

She looked at both of them with hurt visible in her eyes.

"Theek hai..."

"Dono karte raho jo karna hai."

"Mujhe kisi se baat nahi karni."

Without waiting for a reply...

She turned around...

And walked out of the library.

Neither Aarohi nor

Saanvi had the courage to stop her.

Both just stood there...

Watching her leave.

A few minutes later...

Kashvi entered the sports room.

Everyone immediately looked towards the door.

Ishvik asked first,

"Aarohi aur Saanvi?"

Kashvi controlled her emotions and replied in a slightly angry voice,

"Aana hoga na... toh dono khud aa jayengi."

Everyone sensed something was wrong.

No one asked another question.

The room fell silent.

And here ends Chapter 30...
